The Network Engineer is responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure. This role also provides Level 1 and Level 2 IT support as needed. Working closely with the IT Manager, the Network Engineer ensures the network stays secure, reliable, and well-documented.
Responsibilities
- Configure, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex Level 3 network issues.
- Monitor network performance and availability, proactively addressing potential issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation and inventory.
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support across IT functions (e.g., Active Directory, end-user support).
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for escalated support and specialized services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, OSPF, EIGRP).
- Experience with network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and PBX systems in multi-vendor environments (e.g., Cisco, SonicWall, Aruba, Avaya).
- Proficiency with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Nutanix).
- Experience with backup solutions (e.g., Arcserve, Veeam).
- Comfortable working with both Windows and Linux servers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, macros).
- Experience with asset management and maintaining detailed network documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 45 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, CCNP).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft 365).
