The Network Engineer is responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure. This role also provides Level 1 and Level 2 IT support as needed. Working closely with the IT Manager, the Network Engineer ensures the network stays secure, reliable, and well-documented.


Responsibilities

  • Configure, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex Level 3 network issues.
  • Monitor network performance and availability, proactively addressing potential issues.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation and inventory.
  • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support across IT functions (e.g., Active Directory, end-user support).
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for escalated support and specialized services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, OSPF, EIGRP).
  • Experience with network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and PBX systems in multi-vendor environments (e.g., Cisco, SonicWall, Aruba, Avaya).
  • Proficiency with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Nutanix).
  • Experience with backup solutions (e.g., Arcserve, Veeam).
  • Comfortable working with both Windows and Linux servers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, macros).
  • Experience with asset management and maintaining detailed network documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 45 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, CCNP).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft 365).
