Our growing company, Comtrade System Integration, is currently seeking a Junior System Engineer to join our team in Ljubljana.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior System Engineer to support and maintain our internal IT infrastructure. The role involves assisting in the daily operation which will include Level 1 duties as well, monitoring, and troubleshooting of servers, storage systems, backups, network equipment, and virtualization platforms. The Junior System Engineer will work closely with senior team members to ensure our infrastructure remains secure, stable, and efficient.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

-Assist in monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting servers, storage systems, and backup solutions.

-Support administration of network devices (switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points).

-Provide support in virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar).

-Perform routine health checks, patching, and updates across infrastructure components.

-Help ensure backup jobs run successfully and participate in periodic restore testing.

-Document procedures, configurations, and changes in line with IT policies.

-Work with senior engineers to implement infrastructure improvements and projects.

-Support incident resolution and escalate issues when needed.

-Participate in on-call rotations (if applicable) for infrastructure support.

REQUIREMENTS:

-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).

-Basic understanding of Windows/Linux servers, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs), and storage concepts.

-Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar).

-Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery concepts.

-Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

-Good communication and documentation abilities.

-Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

NICE TO HAVE:

-Hands-on experience with server administration (Windows Server, Linux).

-Exposure to firewalls, switches, and routing protocols.

-Familiarity with PowerShell or scripting languages.

-Understanding of IT security practices.

-5 days per week from the office. May work from home on specific occasions.
