Role Purpose

The Head of Technology and Innovation is responsible for driving technological advancement, fostering a culture of innovation, and guiding the strategic development of products and research initiatives across the division. This leader works at the intersection of business strategy, technology, product management, and research and development (R&D), ensuring the company maintains its competitive edge through forward-thinking solutions and the exploration of emerging trends.

In addition to leading technology and innovation efforts, this role carries significant responsibility for managing the R&D budget and ensuring funds are allocated effectively. A structured process for engaging the right stakeholders will be key to success.

Key Responsibilities

• Technology
  
  

You will lead the identification, selection, and implementation of cutting-edge technologies that align with the division’s strategic priorities. Collaborating on IT governance, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and digital transformation initiatives will also be part of your role. You will evaluate and integrate new platforms, tools, and systems to improve operational efficiency and enhance customer value. Additionally, you will consider ROI calculations to ensure that all technological investments deliver tangible, outcome-based performance.

• Innovation
  
  

In this role, you will design and implement frameworks for innovation, guiding ideas from conception to commercialization. You will establish systems to capture, evaluate, and prioritize innovative ideas across the organization. Building external partnerships with startups, academic institutions, and technology providers will be key to fostering open innovation. Staying on top of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive intelligence will inform the strategic direction of the organization.

• Product Management
  
  

You will be responsible for setting the vision and roadmap for both new product development and the enhancement of existing products. Collaborating with cross-functional teams—engineering, marketing, and sales—will be critical to ensuring cohesive and successful product execution. Defining and tracking key product metrics, such as adoption, engagement, retention, and revenue, will be essential. You will champion agile development methodologies, rapid prototyping, and iteration, ensuring that product lifecycles are effectively managed from market entry to eventual sunset.

• Research and Development (R&D)
  
  

You will lead the R&D function, driving a balanced portfolio of incremental improvements, disruptive innovations, and blue-sky research projects. Securing and managing funding for R&D initiatives, including grants, investments, and strategic partnerships, will be vital. You will promote the publication, patenting, and presentation of research outcomes to strengthen the organization’s position as an industry leader. Close feedback loops between R&D and product management will be essential to translating research into market-ready solutions. A strong focus on prioritization and balancing short- and long-term goals with business priorities will be critical to achieving success.

• Stakeholder Engagement
  
  

You will collaborate with regional and global teams to ensure alignment and scalability across initiatives. Partnering with the BA Technology team to drive synergies will also be an important aspect of your role.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you bring a proven track record of at least 15 years in technology, product management, and innovation leadership roles, ideally within fast-paced or tech-driven industries. You have an advanced degree in computer science, engineering, business administration, innovation management, or related fields. Your experience includes ideating, launching, and scaling successful technological products and services.

You possess exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with the ability to balance strategic vision and hands-on execution. You have a deep understanding of the innovation lifecycle, best practices in product management, and R&D methodologies.
