Senior Backend Engineer | Python & Infrastructure Specialist

About the Opportunity

We're partnering with an innovative technology company to find a talented Backend Engineer to join their London-based platform team. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of critical backend systems, work on challenging technical problems, and make a real impact on their growing platform.

You'll collaborate closely with a skilled engineering team, contribute to architecture decisions, and help build scalable solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate closely with the London platform team on new features and infrastructure development
• Take ownership of backend systems with a focus on robust infrastructure and database design
• Build and optimize backend services using Python and SQL
• Contribute to technical decisions around architecture, tooling, and best practices
• Solve complex technical challenges while maintaining clean, maintainable code

What We're Looking For:

Required:

• 3–8 years of experience in backend software engineering
• Deep expertise in Python and SQL, with strong database design skills
• TypeScript experience for full-stack collaboration
• Start-up experience – you thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments
• Excellent communication skills – you can explain complex technical concepts simply
• Passion for your craft – demonstrated expertise or deep interest in a particular field
• Commitment to on-site work – 5 days/week in the London office

Bonus Points:

• Experience with lower-level languages (C, Rust, or similar)
• Strong typing and infrastructure-as-code experience
• A passion for continuous learning and staying current with technology
