Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and develop scalable, high-performance Android applications using Kotlin and Java.
  • Write clean, testable, and maintainable code with a strong focus on performance and reliability.
  • Implement modern Android architectures such as MVP or MVVM.
  • Leverage Jetpack components, including Jetpack Compose, Room, Retrofit, and Coroutines/Flow, to build robust solutions.
  • Apply software engineering best practices, including system design, design patterns, and API design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and actively participate in code reviews.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and DevOps practices to ensure smooth delivery cycles.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help foster a culture of technical excellence.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate development and enhance workflows, without replacing core problem-solving skills.


Must-have Skills

  • 7+ years of professional experience in native Android development.
  • Strong expertise in Kotlin and Java.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, system design, and design patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose, Room, Retrofit, and Coroutines/Flow.
  • Familiarity with Android architectural patterns such as MVP and MVVM.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD practices, and DevOps workflows.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Advanced English proficiency (B2+/C1) to work effectively with global teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.


Nice-to-have

  • Experience mentoring or leading Android development teams.
  • Knowledge of declarative UI patterns beyond Compose.
  • Familiarity with cloud services, GraphQL, or backend integrations.
  • Ability to balance curiosity, craftsmanship, and pragmatism in problem-solving.
  • Professional maturity in using AI tools to support development.


Work Model

This role follows a hybrid work model: 3 days per week in Calgary office, 2 days from home.
