We are looking for a Power System Engineer to join our HVDC team at Hitachi Energy – Montreal. You will be part of a team of talented engineers working for Main Circuit Design department, reporting to the HVDC Engineering Manager in Canada. You will be responsible for initial definition of the equipment that will be used in our HVDC converter stations and yard, working from tender phase to project execution. Some of the tasks you will also be responsible are Reliability, Availability and Maintainability studies, Rating studies, definition of concepts for control and protection design as well as development of our HVDC systems. How you’ll make an impact

• As a Power System Engineer, you will work mainly with initial definition of electrical specification of main circuit equipment in HVDC Converter stations.
• You will be responsible for technical support for tenders and complete project execution (initial studies, single line drawings, basic calculations, etc)
• You will interpret customer specification into drawings and requirements for other engineering teams interfacing with Main Circuit Desing department.
• Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments.
• Maintain network of engineering professionals and share engineering best practice across different projects and disciplines.

Your Background

• We are looking for an engaged, structured, persistent, well-organized, and driven person who is a true team player Professional Engineering competence Bachelor’s or MSc. degree in Electric Power Engineering or similar
• 2+ years of experience with design and specifications of high voltage equipment
• You can make the complex simple and show creativity in your approach to problem solving You are ready to work in an international and multicultural work environment.
• You have worked with High Voltage Equipment or have experience with performing studies for rating of high voltage equipment.
• Previous work experience in related area, flexibility and an open mindset are important features to be successful in this role.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken is required to be able to interact with various stakeholders.
• French speaking is an asset.
