We are an ETH Zurich spin-off with the aim of transforming transportation planning and operation through the introduction of digital twins. Transcality develops next-generation web-app solutions to streamline complex engineering and planning processes.

Our digital transportation twins are offered as a self-service SaaS solution for engineering offices and public authorities in traffic and construction planning at the local, regional, and national levels. They help improve the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of our cities.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Frontend Developer with a passion for building geospatial and performance-driven web applications. You will be building cutting-edge tools for digital twin platforms in transportation, with a strong focus on interactive maps, traffic simulations, and urban planning applications.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex challenges in the browser, optimizing large-scale datasets, and creating intuitive user interfaces that empower our clients to shape the mobility of tomorrow.

• Build and maintain high-performance map interfaces using Next.js and React


• Integrate Deckgl and MapLibre for advanced geospatial visualizations


• Work with DuckDB-wasm and SQLRooms for in-browser querying of large (Geo)Parquet datasets


• Implement road network editing tools


• Optimize performance for large transportation datasets


• Collaborate with UI/UX design team to implement and maintain the intuitive design


• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate REST APIs and data pipelines


• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code

• Bring 3+ years of experience in front-end focused software development


• Proficiency in Next.js and modern React (hooks, state management like Zustand)


• Knowledge of TypeScript and scalable frontend architecture


• Experience with geospatial visualization (Deckgl, MapLibre, GeoParquet/GeoArrow)


• Strong understanding of SQL, DuckDB, and spatial queries


• Experience with performance optimization for browser-based heavy data apps


• Familiarity with WebGL rendering pipelines and geospatial concepts


• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently


• Experience with version control tools (Git)


• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)
