This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Laravel Engineer with MySQL Tuning Experience in Latin America.

As a Laravel Engineer with a focus on MySQL performance, you will play a critical role in developing and optimizing high-quality, scalable applications for complex, large-scale SaaS platforms. You will work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, taking ownership of backend architecture, database performance, and API efficiency. Your contributions will directly impact application reliability, responsiveness, and user satisfaction. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensure secure and maintainable code, and continuously improve system performance through careful query optimization and database tuning. This role offers the chance to work with modern technologies, challenging projects, and to mentor team members while enhancing your expertise in both Laravel and MySQL.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain robust Laravel applications, focusing on backend architecture, API design, and performance optimization
  • Optimize MySQL databases for high-volume, multitenant SaaS applications, including indexing strategies, query rewriting, and performance tuning
  • Write, debug, and optimize complex SQL queries, using EXPLAIN plans and advanced database tools
  • Design and maintain scalable database schemas, applying normalization/denormalization strategies to ensure data integrity and efficiency
  • Implement secure authentication, authorization, and other security best practices within Laravel applications
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable, efficient, and scalable solutions
  • Write unit and integration tests using tools like Pest PHP or PHPUnit to maintain code quality and system reliability
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team


Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with Laravel (version 8+) and strong understanding of the framework's architecture and capabilities
  • Expertise in MySQL performance optimization, including query tuning, indexing, and schema design
  • Strong hands-on experience with Eloquent ORM and Laravel Query Builder, with the ability to optimize generated SQL
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable RESTful APIs and handling high-volume transactional systems
  • Experience with large-scale, multitenant SaaS applications
  • Proficiency in testing frameworks such as Pest PHP and PHPUnit
  • Knowledge of ReactJS is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
