One (1) Full-time Position

The Information Technology Services Department seeks a dynamic professional to support the Board’s advanced computing environment. The successful candidate will lead and guide planning, evaluation, and maintenance of approved IT systems at a senior technical level.
Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology Services, the Network Systems Administrator will work with technical staff to provide support on network infrastructure for existing and emerging IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Network switches, routers, firewalls, and Wi-Fi technologies
- Telephony systems (VOIP, PSTN, Cellular)
- Network cabling (copper and fiber), UPS systems
- IPSEC VPN tunnels
- Computers, file servers, and lab environments
- Research and recommend new solutions aligned with the Board’s strategic priorities
- Optimize and improve existing systems and processes
- Carrier Services Support:
- Maintain and troubleshoot services provided by fiber optic, internet, MPLS, telephony, and SIP network carriers
- Software & Device Management:
- Assist with the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Board-approved software, operating systems, and device connectivity (e.g., laptops, desktops, Smart Boards, IoT devices)
- Security & Vulnerability Management:
- Monitor networked devices and systems for vulnerabilities
- Apply critical patches, firmware, and security updates in a timely manner
- Backup & Disaster Recovery:
- Configure and administer enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Collaborate on the maintenance and execution of the Board’s Disaster Recovery Plan
- Automation & Documentation:
- Automate tasks using PowerShell and other scripting tools
- Create and maintain knowledge base articles and documentation for Helpdesk systems and processes
- Other Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Minimum 5 years troubleshooting and supporting three or more of the following systems:
- Windows Server 2016 and above
- Windows 11
- Linux/Unix
- SQL-92 compliant systems
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, infrastructure and security practices
- Proven ability to install, configure, diagnose, and support:
- Network switches (HP/Aruba)
- VOIP systems (FortiVoice)
- Enterprise wireless systems (Aruba)
- Network Access Control systems (PacketFence / Aruba ClearPass)
- Battery backup systems (Tripplite, Eaton, APC)
- Firewalls (Fortinet)
- NRBN fiber optic network systems
- MS Office 365, Google Workspace, Microsoft Visio
- Apple iOS, Android OS, Google Management Console
- TOPdesk, Microsoft Intune
- Network Management Systems (LibreNMS), Aruba Central
- Ability to develop, customize, and support desktop computers, laptops, Chromebooks, mobile tablets and phones, and server-based applications to ensure interoperability with DSBN infrastructure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to deliver training and technical information to a variety of staff members
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to schools, offices, and offsite locations as needed
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Strong documentation skills
- Physical capability to lift & install equipment, and perform ladder work
