Get to know the team:
The AV Integrations & Deployments (AVID) team builds the integration services, operational tools, and fleet management portal that connect Grab with a diverse fleet of autonomous vehicles. From developing APIs and large-scale telemetry ingestion to real-time fleet monitoring, safety workflows, and depot operations, we ensure that AV technologies from multiple partners can be deployed safely, reliably, and at scale across our ecosystem.
Our mission is to make Grab the indispensable operating partner for AV fleets in Southeast Asia, building the platform and guide that defines how hybrid human and robot fleets operate in the region.

As a lead mobile engineer, you will help design and building world class commercial ready fleet operation tools and user facing mobile applications. You will collaborate with global AV partners and fleet operation teams to grow hybrid human-robot fleets in the region.
You will report to the Head of Engineering and will be onsite at Grab One-north office.

As a lead mobile engineer, you will help design and building world class commercial ready fleet operation tools and user facing mobile applications. You will collaborate with global AV partners and fleet operation teams to grow hybrid human-robot fleets in the region.
You will report to the Head of Engineering and will be onsite at Grab One-north office.
What You'll Do
- Build and scale mobile applications on Android for the AV fleet operations tools. Design real-time geospatial experiences (e.g., Mapbox GL, deck.gl) to visualize vehicle positions, routes, geofences, clustering, and live status/alerts. Implement secure, low-latency video streaming and playback from vehicles (e.g., RTSP/RTP to HLS/DASH/WebRTC), including access controls, masking/redaction, and audit logging.
- Apply strong reliability, observability, and safety practices (SLOs, metrics, tracing, alerting). Join on-call rotations, run incident response, root-cause analysis, and contribute to post-mortems.
- Design and maintain infrastructure with Terraform on AWS/Azure; build CI/CD pipelines and automate testing and deployments.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, data analysts, designers, and operations teams to define features, ship iteratively, and measure impact. Write clear technical documentation.
- Work in a regional organization, partnering across diverse teams and cultures.
Technical must-haves
- Computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, multithreading, distributed systems, relational and non-relational databases.
- 6+ years experience with geospatial systems, Unity 3D scene rendering and map rendering (e.g., Mapbox GL, deck.gl).
- 6+ years experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and hands-on experience deploying scalable backend services.
- Experience with real-time data processing using Kafka/Flink or similar streaming technologies.
- A shift-left testing mindset: unit, integration, and automated testing as part of CI/CD.
- Collaborate across teams and regions.
- Apply analytical and system design capabilities to develop reliable infrastructure for future growth.
- Manage workload and adjusting priorities as project needs evolve.
- Ensure technical knowledge is well-maintained by producing clear, precise, and user-friendly documentation.
- Experience with streaming media and real-time communications (RTSP/RTP, HLS/DASH, WebRTC) and related performance/security considerations.
- Hands-on experience with Go programming language.
- Hands-on experience with AWS/Azure and cost/operability best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Flink/Kafka and stateful stream processing.
- Hands-on experience with GraphQL for schema-driven APIs and type-safe clients.
- Experience with device/edge management, OTA updates, and secure partner integrations.
- Background in safety-critical or regulated environments, privacy-by-design, and threat modelling.
