Role Overview:

We are seeking a Backend Developer to join our growing engineering team. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services that power Brainzee’s intelligent tutoring platform. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education, AI, and building reliable systems that impact learners worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs and microservices.
• Build and optimize PostgreSQL databases for scalability, reliability, and security.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and secure data handling.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Work with JSONB fields and structured queries for AI-powered adaptive learning data.
• Develop integrations with external systems (e.g., LMS platforms via LTI).
• Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging.
• Stay updated on backend best practices, database trends, and emerging technologies.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in at least one backend language/framework (Node.js/Express, Python/Django/FastAPI, or similar).
• Strong understanding of databases, especially PostgreSQL (experience with MongoDB or MySQL is a plus).
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs (GraphQL is a plus).
• Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Nice to have:

• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL performance tuning and scaling.
• Interest in AI/ML integration.
