The Role Summary:

We’re looking for a creative Soft Goods Designer to help us design thoughtful products that simplify everyday life - from travel organisers to pouches and beyond. You’ll work closely with our design and production teams to bring concepts to life - exploring materials, refining details, and ensuring designs are ready for the real world. From early sketches to final samples, your work will shape the future of Orbitkey’s soft goods range.

What your typical day looks like:

• Working closely with our design team, taking direction from our Head of Design to create a suite of smart solutions that help our customers stay productive wherever they are.
• Researching new materials and manufacturing processes to help shape our evolving CMF (Colour, Material, Finish) strategy.
• Building mockups to test fit, usability, and construction techniques.
• Presenting design directions, samples, and outcomes to stakeholders across the business.
• Creating detailed production-ready tech packs and CMF specifications.
• Collaborating with our manufacturing partners on sample development and testing.
• Managing sample development schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
• Reviewing samples with our production team, providing clear feedback and approvals.
• Working with production to make sure designs meet cost, quality, and compliance requirements.
• Providing ad-hoc design support across the business when needed.

Key Capabilities

• 3+ years experience in soft goods or accessories design (bags, travel gear, pouches or similar)
• Strong knowledge of soft goods materials, construction methods, and manufacturing processes
• Ability to balance quality, speed and cost – delivering the best value to our customers
• Proficiency in sketching, soft-goods prototyping, and creating production-ready design specs
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Google Workspace (Docs/Sheets)
• Strong time management skills – able to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities
• Excellent attention to detail, while staying focused on the bigger picture
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with suppliers, manufacturers, and cross-functional teams.
• A collaborative, team-oriented mindset – you’re happy to roll up your sleeves and help where needed

Bonus if you have:

• Experience with sustainable materials and responsible design practices.
• Worked with factories in Asia, particularly China or Vietnam.
• Interest in technical gear, travel accessories, or everyday carry products.
