Would you like to combine your current studies with a job in an innovative company in the field of Computer Vision solutions to efficiently extract information out of images? At KAI GmbH, you will perform your project in an industrial research environment, guided and supported by experienced researchers in such diverse areas as data science, hard- and software design, simulation, modelling and semiconductor technology. This specific internship is suitable for students within a degree program in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics or similar! Our team in Villach is looking forward to receiving your application!

In your new role you will:

  • Get familiar with the use case, the available software tools, and the existing computer vision methods
  • Perform requirement analysis in close collaboration with the data science team and domain experts on the implementation and results of the image analysis to ensure compatibility with downstream activities
  • Develop and implement a Deep Learning model to detect anomalies in wafer test data and identify dies affected by specific patterns
  • Take care of documentation and communicate of results

Type of employment: Temporary / Fulltime or Part-time (flexible working hours from Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.)

Duration: 11 months

You successfully meet the requirements, if you are a motivated and committed student (f/m/div)* from the fields of Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics or similar. You are best equipped for this task if you additionally offer:

  • Know-How about training Deep Learning models (preferably for Computer Vision tasks) using PyTorch
  • Practical experience with Python programming and relevant AI libraries (PyTorch, Pandas/Polars, Numpy, ...)
  • Experience with version control using Git
  • Familiarity CI/CD tools e.g. Poetry, Jenkins (nice to have)
  • Communicative character with joy in teamwork
  • Fluent in English, German is a plus

This position is subject to the collective agreement for workers and employees in the electrical and electronics industry (full-time), employment group B for bachelor students, employment group D for master students (https://www.feei.at/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/minimum-salaries-white-collar-workers-2025.pdf).
