Role overview
We’re looking for a Back-End Engineer to join our team in Amsterdam. This is a mid-to-senior level position on our engineering team, where you’ll work closely with product and design to build and evolve the core of Secfi’s platform.
You’ll have the opportunity to lead initiatives and shape technical decisions from day one. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, wants agency in how things get built, and is excited about building systems that help people make better financial decisions.
What you’ll do
- Build APIs and services to power our equity planning platform and internal tools.
- Collaborate with product, design, and front-end engineers to define features, and bring new experiences to life.
- Design, develop, and maintain systems that are secure, scalable, and efficient.
- Support product in data analysis and experimentation to inform decisions.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and help improve system performance and reliability.
- Help maintain and evolve our infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes.
You will work on projects like:
- Integrate AI into our planning tools
- Build a notification center for users to keep track of their opportunities
- Financial planning and tax calculation APIs
Our stack:
- Backend: Python 3.11, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, Celery, Django, Node
- Tooling & Quality: uv, ruff, mypy, pytest
- Data Stores: PostgreSQL, Redis
- Infrastructure: Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, CircleCI
What we’re looking for
- 3–6+ years of back-end development experience.
- Strong command of Python and designing APIs (RESTful, bonus points for GraphQL).
- Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (ideally AWS) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Ability to take ownership of features and collaborate across disciplines.
- An eye for simplicity, security, maintainability and performance.
- Authorized to work in the EU.
