Project Description

As an AWS Software Engineer, you’ll build impactful solutions to complex business problems in a fast-paced, Agile environment. You’ll help lead a key initiative to automate the business loan decisioning process, improving operational workflows and overall efficiency. You will collaborate closely with fellow engineers and key business stakeholders, contribute to cross-team architecture and design discussions, and influence the broader success of the program.

Responsibilities

• Participate in technical design sessions; document and align on solution approaches.
• Design and develop microservices using AWS serverless architectures.
• Provide consultative guidance to stakeholders; act as a trusted technical advisor.
• Foster a strong team culture through partnership, open dialogue, and transparent feedback.
• Drive continuous improvements in reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical direction.
• Maintain and modernize legacy components while building toward target architectures.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4–8 years of hands-on software development with modern languages, including Node.js and Python.
• Proven experience designing and implementing REST and event-driven services on AWS (Lambda, EventBridge, DynamoDB, API Gateway, IAM, etc.).
• Experience building and supporting SaaS/Cloud solutions and integrating with internal systems.
• Proficiency with AWS services: Lambda, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, DynamoDB, API Gateway, EC2, IAM, STS.
• Experience with RDS and non-relational databases.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; effective in Agile environments.
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying APIs (must have).
• Experience building infrastructure with CloudFormation (CFTs).
• Creative, analytical problem-solver who translates complex business needs into sound technical solutions.
• Working hours: Ability to overlap with US time zones (until 3:00 PM CST or later).
• Location preference: Mexico; European candidates willing to work late are also considered.

Nice to Have

• Background in lending/financial services.
• AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Developer certification.
• Experience with SCRUM, SAFe, and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Comfortable communicating with users, cross-functional teams, and senior leadership about requirements, feature design, technical trade-offs, and product strategy.
