The Software Engineer will work with a team supporting IT & Innovations activities across the Group. This position is responsible for the development, support and integration of database modules, mobile applications, and other IT projects. This role will implement the IT & Innovations Strategy in line with the Company Values, Strategy & Operational goals.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and program new database modules and mobile applications to meet the needs of the business.
- Work closely with all areas of the Group to identify areas where systems improvements can be made and implemented.
- Program solutions that can be integrated into the current company databases.
- Provide systems support to staff, both office based and remote.
- Program solutions that can be integrated into the current company databases.
- Identify and champion new technology or systems to improve Group systems and processes.
- Talk staff through actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues.
- Maintain procedural documentation and reports.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Knowledge of Visual Basic, Microsoft Access, SQL.
- Knowledge with coding and programming languages.
- Knowledge of IT systems integration.
- Knowledge of mobile application or web app development.
- Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Ability to prioritise work and manage challenging workload
- Flexible, adaptable and can-do attitude to work.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills – Written and Verbal .
- Excellent problem solving, time management, attention to detail, and reliability skills.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- Level 7 or above QQI qualification in a related IT field.
- Range of IT courses at Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and/or Masters level.
- Knowledge of coding languages, preferably Visual Basic and/or PowerFx.
- Understanding or experience of UI/UX design.
