Role overview:

The Data Scientist will engage with external clients and internal customers, understand their needs, and deliver insights, recommendations and tools to shape their actions.

With a focus on optimisation techniques and GCP implementation, you will drive innovative solutions while mentoring up to two junior data scientists or interns within the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with clients to understand their business objectives, data landscape, and analytical requirements. Act as a trusted advisor to recommend data-driven solutions that align with their strategic goals.
  • Delivery of both ad-hoc analysis requests from external Clients and internal customers, as well as proactive value-add research delivered through documents, dashboards, presentations, etc.
  • Apply advanced statistical, optimisation and machine learning techniques to analyse large datasets and derive meaningful insights. Develop predictive models, optimisation algorithms, and data visualisations to solve complex business problems.
  • Formulate real-world problems as mathematical optimisation models, accounting for constraints, uncertainties, and multiple objectives.
  • Design end-to-end data science solutions tailored to the specific needs of each client, with particular focus on optimisation approaches. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate analytical models into client systems and processes using GCP.
  • Develop innovative optimisation concepts and drive them towards implementation with growing self-sufficiency.
  • Mentor junior data scientists, sharing expertise in optimisation techniques and GCP implementation.
  • Share data science knowledge with wider functions, transforming raw data into useful and analysable derived data sets and develop re-usable analytical and visualisation methods.

Qualifications:

  • BSc/MSc/PhD in Maths, Statistics, Operations Research, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 6+ years as a Data Scientist or similar role, ideally in consulting or client-facing environments.

Core Expertise:

  • Optimisation techniques: linear, integer, mixed-integer programming; non-linear optimisation; metaheuristics (genetic algorithms, simulated annealing, particle swarm optimisation); constraint programming; multi-objective and stochastic optimisation.
  • Solving business problems such as resource allocation, scheduling, supply chain optimisation, network design, portfolio optimisation, pricing, and revenue management.
  • Optimisation frameworks in Python: PuLP, CVXPY, Pyomo, DEAP, PyGAD, SciPy, Google OR-Tools, Gurobi, CPLEX, CBC solvers.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced data science coding in Python, R, SQL.
  • GCP and its data science tools (BigQuery, AI Platform, Dataflow, Dataproc) for scaling optimisation workloads.
  • Implementing optimisation solutions as microservices/APIs in production.
  • Deploying ML models and advanced analytics in GCP cloud environments (GCP certifications advantageous).

Additional Skills:

  • Translating complex optimisation results into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Creating effective visualisations of optimisation outcomes and trade-offs.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work towards innovative solutions with guidance.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Corporate learning programs and certifications.
  • Medical Insurance.
  • Flexible working environment (remote/hybrid).
  • Career growth opportunities in a global team.
