About the Role

Rates.ca is looking for a talented and creative UX/UI Designer to join our Marketing Team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on developing intuitive, engaging, and visually compelling digital experiences across web and mobile platforms. You’ll play a key role in shaping the look, feel, and usability of our website, collaborating closely with developers, marketing managers and product owners to bring your ideas to life.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and communicate an understanding of user needs, behaviours and pain points; design solutions to improve usability across all platforms and interfaces.
  • Design visual elements and user journeys that encourage user engagement.
  • Translate business and user needs into wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
  • Collaborate with marketing, development and product managers to align design and usability solutions with strategic goals.
  • Communicate conceptual ideas and detailed design rationale to internal stakeholders and partners.
  • Lead the application of brand guidelines to ensure consistency in design across all platforms.
  • Stay current with UX/UI trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Propose A/B tests to improve key performance metrics; interpret analytics to inform strategic direction.
  • Create new page elements that effectively display large data sets in digestible and understandable ways.


Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or related areas.
  • 3+ years of experience in user interaction and design experience.
  • Proficient in major industry tools, such as Adobe, Figma, Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • A working knowledge and understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, web plugins, APIs, etc.
  • Ability to understand user needs, motivations and behaviors and respond to them with meaningful product solutions.
  • Ability to clearly document and communicate ideas and explain design concepts to non-designers and effectively communicate project and design rationale.
  • Proven ability to develop experiences for responsive/adaptive web and native mobile applications.
  • Commitment to constantly improve skills and stay current with developments and trends in the industry.
  • Agency experience is preferred.
  • Experience in financial services preferred.
  • Experience using Drupal or a comparable CMS is preferred.
