The Sustaining Engineer is a key technical role responsible for supporting and improving the performance, reliability, and compliance of our autonomous driving system throughout its lifecycle. You will take ownership of the logging domain and non-conformity investigations, ensuring issues are captured, analyzed, and resolved with precision. Working cross-functionally with Planning & Control, Perception, Embedded, Quality, and Infra teams, you will drive root cause analysis, Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and continuous improvements that strengthen system reliability and safety.
This position is ideal for a hands-on engineer who thrives on investigation, independence, and precision, with a proactive mindset to make systems observable, debuggable, and rock-solid.
How you will contribute:
- Lead investigations of software non-conformities, analyzing logs and trace data to identify root causes
- Own the logging domain end-to-end: ensure logs are captured, structured, and actionable; drive improvements in observability
- Collaborate with developers to confirm issues, apply or suggest hotfixes, and support rapid resolution
- Escalate infrastructure-related findings to the infra team and ensure smooth cross-team handover
- Document investigations and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to provide full traceability of non-conformities
- Monitor software/system performance trends and proactively address potential risks
- Stay informed on industry standards, tools, and best practices that strengthen software reliability
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor´s degree in Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
- 3+ years of experience in software troubleshooting, QA, or sustaining/debug engineering
- Strong skills in log analysis, debugging, and root cause investigation
- Knowledge of C++ (with the ability to read/debug C, Python, and JavaScript)
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to work independently to drive investigations through to resolution
- Willingness to travel internationally for collaboration and project support
Bonus points for:
- Experience with software QA or validation frameworks
- Familiarity with NVIDIA DriveOS platform and debugging tools
- Background in system-level debugging and cross-functional problem solving
- Understanding of CAPA processes, risk management, or QMS tools
- Familiarity with GPS/RTK issue debugging
- Knowledge of automotive standards (ISO 26262, ASPICE, etc.)
