Job Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies. In this role, you will be responsible for engineering and optimising enterprise Kubernetes platforms, enabling secure, scalable, and policy-driven delivery across multi-cloud environments. You will work closely with development teams to design and implement cloud-native architectures, drive automation through Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and ensure compliance with security and governance standards. This is a hands-on role that combines strong technical knowledge with collaboration and solution-oriented problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, operate, and optimize enterprise-grade Kubernetes clusters, primarily on-premise
- Design and implement cluster mesh architectures for highly available and secure platforms
- Deploy and manage API management gateways, particularly Azure API Management
- Drive automation of deployments and infrastructure through infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and CI/CD practices
- Architect and support multi-cloud deployments with focus on scalability, security, and governance
- Collaborate with development teams to enable cloud-native and microservices-based architectures
- Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and observability solutions
- Apply advanced security measures including RBAC, OPA, network policies, and policy-driven delivery (DevSecOps)
- Support GitOps workflows and tooling for efficient and reliable deployments
- Contribute to FinOps practices to optimize cloud usage and cost efficiency
- Ensure compliance with enterprise standards through automation, governance, and policy engines (e.g. Kyverno, OPA)
- Stay up to date with industry best practices, emerging tools, and cloud-native technologies
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- German skills required at C1 (professional fluency)
- English skills required at B1 for technical aspects
- Several years of hands-on experience managing enterprise Kubernetes environments
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native technologies including containers, Helm charts, service mesh, and operators
- Practical expertise with cluster mesh tools such as Cilium, Istio, or Linkerd
- Solid understanding of multi-cloud strategies covering networking, IAM, and governance
- Proficiency with automation frameworks and tools such as Terraform, Ansible, ArgoCD, and Flux
- Experience with programming and scripting languages (Go, Python, Bash)
- Familiarity with GitOps workflows, DevSecOps practices, and cloud security
- Experience with policy engines and enforcement (Kyverno, OPA)
- Knowledge of FinOps principles and practices for optimising cloud spend
- Strong experience with Azure services, especially Azure API Management
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS) are highly desirable
