Senior Robotics & AI Research Engineer
📍 Zurich, Switzerland |
💼 Permanent (80–100%) |
🔁 Hybrid work model
A fast-growing robotics innovator based in Zurich is seeking a Senior Research Engineer in Robotics & AI to help shape the future of autonomous mobility and intelligent systems. This role is ideal for someone with a strong research background and a drive to push the boundaries of perception, planning, and applied machine learning in robotics.
You’ll join a highly skilled R&D team focused on cutting-edge autonomy and intelligent behaviour in real-world environments. From evaluating state-of-the-art ML models to developing real-time perception pipelines, you will work hands-on with complex systems and actively contribute to the future direction of robotic autonomy. Your work will feed directly into core product development and long-term technical strategy.
🔍 What You'll Be Working On
You’ll research and evaluate emerging technologies in machine learning, robotics, computer vision, and sensing. You will design proof-of-concept systems, lead hands-on prototyping efforts, and quickly translate innovation into functional engineering outcomes. This includes training and fine-tuning vision models, deploying GPU-based inference systems, collaborating with external partners (research labs, startups, tech providers), and working closely with engineering teams to bring innovation into production.
💡 What You Bring
You hold a PhD (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Robotics, or AI, with a strong portfolio of work in real-world robotics systems. You're comfortable working with deep learning frameworks, transformer-based models, and multi-modal perception architectures. You have hands-on experience across the full MLOps pipeline — from data collection to GPU-based deployment — and you’re proficient in C++ and Python, with clean, efficient code quality. You thrive in experimental environments and iterate fast, validating concepts early and often.
You know how to work independently, lead R&D initiatives, align your work with larger product goals, and communicate your insights clearly to stakeholders. Experience with modern C++, ROS, and real-time systems is a strong plus.
🚀 Why Join
This is your chance to be part of a rapidly scaling company developing some of the most technically advanced robotics systems in the world. You'll work in a highly dynamic, hands-on, and collaborative environment alongside experts in robotics, AI, and embedded systems. In addition to a competitive salary and flexible hybrid working, you’ll benefit from stock options, advanced prototyping labs, and real-world deployment challenges that have immediate impact in industry.
Be part of the team shaping the next generation of autonomous robotics.
