What You Will Do
In this role, your primary responsibility will be to guide and lead our organization in this complex environment and provide hands-on support as well as strategic advice on trade and customs related topics.
In This Role Your Focus Will Be To
- Be the primary subject matter expert for import and export regulations, giving advice and support to our European legal entities. Being the primary expert in the field of HS Classification, Country of Origin determination, Customs Valuation and Free Trade Agreements.
- Serve as strategic advisor on the impact of trade restrictions, tariffs and emerging frameworks.
- Supervise and be the Business Product Owner for SAP and in particular the GTS module. Practical experience of the system is preferred.
- Monitor regulatory changes and compliance trends in order to keep the organisation up to date.
- Design and monitor internal compliance programs, SOP’s and perform periodic audits to ensure compliance. Develop training programs for internal stakeholders to promote compliance awareness and accountability.
- Provide guidance and being familiar with the Export Control and Sanctions area. Including other jurisdictions such as the UK and US.
You will bring
To be successful in this position, we believe that you have the following qualifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in international business, Supply Chain, Law, or a related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years in global trade compliance with a strong focus on customs regulations - preferably in the medical device, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of import and export regulations and key customs topics: HS classification, country of origin, valuation.
- Experience with SAP GTS (preferred) or similar trade management systems.
- Knowledge of global customs regimes (e.g., EU Union Customs Code, US CBP, China GAC, etc.) is advantageous.
- Experience and knowledge in Export Control and understanding of dual-use or export-controlled technologies.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project leadership skills in a global setting.
- Self-motivated with a strong drive to improve processes and to achieve results.
- Strong quantitative, written, and verbal communication skills
