About The Role
Join our Enterprise Analytics team at Scarborough Health Network as a Data Scientist and contribute to transforming healthcare data into actionable insights that improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency. This full-time, temporary position (12 months) is based at the Centenary Site and is integral to supporting strategic initiatives through advanced data analysis, machine learning, and visualization techniques. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data science, statistics, and healthcare systems, and will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including clinicians, program directors, and researchers. Your role will involve analyzing complex healthcare datasets from various sources such as electronic health records, enterprise data warehouses, and surveys. You will develop predictive models, evaluate their performance, and communicate findings effectively to senior leadership and clinical teams. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage innovative technologies and contribute to the ongoing improvement of healthcare services within a dynamic and supportive environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Sciences, Statistics, Health Informatics, Engineering, or related fields
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in data science, analytics, or machine learning, preferably within a healthcare setting
- Proficiency in data mining, statistical analysis, and mathematical modeling, including knowledge of statistical tests, distributions, regression, and maximum likelihood estimations
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, SQL, SAS, and familiarity with data science libraries such as pandas and scikit-learn
- Experience in developing predictive models and pattern recognition techniques
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex data insights clearly
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, research-oriented environment managing multiple projects effectively
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaborative skills
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and analyze healthcare data from diverse sources including electronic health records, data warehouses, and surveys
- Develop and implement predictive models and statistical analyses to identify trends, forecast outcomes, and support clinical and operational decision-making
- Evaluate and validate the performance of data-driven solutions using appropriate metrics and validation techniques
- Create automated workflows to streamline data processing, analysis, and modeling tasks
- Present findings and insights through visualizations and reports tailored to various audiences, including senior leadership, clinicians, and program managers
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to understand data needs and translate them into analytical solutions
- Stay updated with emerging data science techniques and healthcare trends to continually enhance analytical capabilities
