With Microsoft 365 Copilot, customers expect best-in-class AI tools to enhance productivity. The Copilot Pages and Notebooks team is seeking a Software Engineer to help build the fundamentals team responsible for managing REST APIs, engineering systems, and web application performance.

This role offers the opportunity to learn what it takes to build services that scale to millions of calls per day. You will develop your skills as a web developer and help ensure our application delivers fast, reliable experiences for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to determine user requirements for features.
  • Supports identification of dependencies and contributes to the development of design documents for product features with oversight.
  • Implements code for products, services, or features, reusing code as applicable and following guidance.
  • Breaks down work items into tasks and provides estimation, with support and learning opportunities.
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) by monitoring system, product features, or services for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems, and recommends actions to restore functionality by following established playbooks.
  • Reviews current developments and proactively seeks new knowledge to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products, while driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (or currently pursuing a degree) in Computer Science or related technical discipline,
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Experience with web development fundamentals, including performance and accessibility.
  • Experience with TypeScript, Webpack, and React.
Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
    • OR Master's Degree (or currently pursuing a degree) in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
