Product Designer

Job Description

Location: London, UK / Hybrid (3 days a week in office)

Company: Ensemble is a start-up digitalising labour management in ports and wider multimodal. Our Athena workforce scheduling platform is built specifically for operations teams - integrating industry systems with an interface designed for ports and the realities of complex workforce management. Our scheduling and labour management tools help operators make faster, safer, and more efficient decisions.

Position: We are seeking a highly talented and motivated Product Designer who can work side by side with our founders, tech team, and clients to create user experiences that turn complex operations into simple workflows. The role is hands-on: redesigning dashboards and mobile app experiences, improving existing flows without disrupting users.

Note: While we are primarily recruiting for a permanent role, we are also open to exploring partnerships with agencies or contractors who can demonstrate the right mix of expertise and availability.

Responsibilities:

  • Design end-to-end product experiences: research, flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs
  • Translate user research, client feedback, and domain knowledge into elegant, usable workflows
  • Rework existing designs to transition them forward gradually, avoiding disruptive changes
  • Design dashboards and mobile app experiences that balance clarity and complexity
  • Build and maintain a scalable design system
  • Collaborate with product, founders, and engineering to balance usability with feasibility
  • Advocate for the user and ensure designs help them access the right information at the right time
  • Prepare designs in line with the product roadmap, anticipating dependencies and knock-on effects

Qualifications:

  • Experience designing B2B SaaS products (scheduling, logistics, HR, finance, healthcare, or similar)
  • Strong experience with Figma prototyping
  • A portfolio that shows not just polished visuals, but your process and problem-solving
  • Experience designing both dashboards and mobile applications
  • Comfort working with multiple personas, workflows, and edge cases
  • Strong UX and UI skills: user flows, Figma designs, and design systems
  • The ability to clearly explain design decisions and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Willingness to work from the office and spend time with clients to better understand their needs

Bonus Experiences

  • Experience working with labour management solutions
  • Knowledge of multi-modal industries

Benefits:

  • High impact: your designs will shape the core product used by real-world teams every day
  • Growth path: opportunity to progress into a Senior Product Designer or Design Lead role
  • Hard, meaningful problems: solve challenges that directly affect complex operations
  • Collaborative culture: design is a central part of how we build, not an afterthought
  • Client exposure: work directly with the people who use our product to shape the best possible solution
  • Office space in the heart of London with gym and free fitness classes.
  • Working for a start-up enables opportunities for professional growth and development unachievable in a corporate bureaucracy.
