ANYbotics is a fast-growing high tech company dedicated to shaping the future of mobile robotics across multiple industries. Join our highly talented and motivated team of more than 200 people and work on cutting-edge robot technology.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated intern to join our Robotics Division for a six-month period, starting in Dec 2025 /Jan 2026. During this internship, you will work alongside a team of experienced professionals, gaining exposure to various aspects of our robotic systems.

Your primary responsibility will involve completing the software of a 1DOF (one degree-of-freedom) test bench for fatigue analysis of our electric motors and mechanical interfaces. Building on the code and the test bed hardware that has been created by previous interns, you will design a user interface, configure inter-system communication for computers, motors, and sensors, develop motor motion controllers and commission the test bed. In a second step you will thoroughly test the setup, generate calibration routines, trajectory generators and automate a variety of tests.

Market & Our Technology

ANYbotics transforms industrial plants in the energy, process, and utility sector by introducing robotics to a wide range of novel applications that so far were beyond reach. Our customers are large asset operators and industrial service providers pioneering the use of robotics technology for inspection and maintenance. Our mobile robot ANYmal uses legs for extreme mobility in complex environments, camera- and LIDAR-based sensing for full autonomy and obstacle avoidance, and AI for high-quality and consistent inspection results. We develop numerous customized hardware systems, including the entire robotic platform, actuators, sensors, inspection payloads, charging systems, and all related ANYbotics mechanical hardware.

Your contributions

  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams from hardware, software and testing department
  • Refine the software for a 1DOF test bench (communication, motor control and user interface)
  • Guarantee high quality of the test bench software by implementing software tests
  • Develop and implement a range of motion and torque control profiles to mimic the loads occurring on the robot
  • Automate test routines and ensure ease of use
  • Assess the performance of the test bench and optimize control parameters

Your profile

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics or robotics engineering
  • Experience in programming C, C++, Python and ROS
  • Proficiency in using Linux and Git
  • Hands on experience with mechatronic systems
  • Basic understanding of electronics
  • Ability to work autonomously in a team
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written

Bonus points

  • Experience with automation using PLC and motors, Ethercat/CAN
  • Experience with SOEM (Simple Open EtherCAT Master)
  • Experience with TwinCAT
  • Experience in writing motor firmware/drivers
  • Skilled in debugging complex software
  • Knowledge of German language

Please note that we are only able to consider applications from students eligible to live and work in Switzerland. We are not able to sponsor visa or permits for this role. Schengen-Area citizens are responsible for their own permit application. The minimum acceptable duration of the internship will be 5 months.

We offer you a very exciting and dynamic work environment, the opportunity to become part of a fast-growing company and an ambitious team that is on a mission to change the industrial inspection market, a chance to leverage your experience and bring in your own ideas, a fair market salary, an attractive employee stock ownership plan, and a job in the city of Zurich.
