QBuild are recruiting for multiple permanent Senior Project Managers (SEQ Flexible), to provide a high level of skill, leadership and professional knowledge in delivering project management consulting services. Back-filling of temporary roles across SEQ, for various periods, may also be filled through this selection process. The position reports to the Principal Project Manager and supervises several staff.
QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About The Role
The primary purpose of the position is to provide a high level of skill, leadership and professional knowledge in the delivery of project management consulting services.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring activities are implemented effectively, managed and coordinated for the delivery of capital works across various programs. Manage relationships and stakeholder engagement to ensure the effective delivery and profitability of capital works building programs.
- Manage, monitor, lead, train and mentor the activities, performance and quality assurance procedures of Project Managers and other staff within the Capital Works Team.
- Coordinating and managing all aspects of building project implementation activities including pre-design, design, documentation, contract administration and post construction activities and assisting in taking responsibility for the quality, cost, cash-flow, timeliness and suitability of projects to be delivered to the client.
- Coordinating the activities of other project staff, external consultants, building contractors, managers and other business units to achieve project objectives.
- Coordinating regional capital related reports and reviewing exception reports to assist in tracking progress of projects.
- Providing a high level of contract coordination in respect to traditional and non-traditional contract systems.
- Ensuring project team members (external or QBuild staff) involved in the provision of pre-design, design, documentation, contract administration and post construction services to clients are engaged, communicated with and coordinated effectively.
- Leading negotiations with consultants, local authorities, the client and contractors to ensure value for money solutions are identified and delivered. Utilising experience and professional knowledge to add value to discussions and ensure appropriate stakeholder management is undertaken. This requires interfacing with clients on a day-to-day basis.
- Controlling variances by generating exception reports on time and cost aspects of project management and performing project audits to establish project team performance as appropriate.
- Assisting the Program Manager/Principal Project Manager to determine attainable fees for services under your control and where necessary, generate the approval for the billing of clients.
- Acting as Superintendent or Principal's Representative (where necessary) under the contract for construction contracts in accordance with QBuild quality assurance policies and procedures and ensuring Superintendent's Representatives act in accordance with these policies and procedures.
