Lead Full Stack Engineer

GemPool is working with an ambitious, fast-growing health-tech startup on a mission to reshape obesity and weight-loss care. They’re already helping thousands of members across Ireland through a unique, evidence-based approach — combining medical intervention, psychology, dietetics, and health coaching.

Now, they’re scaling up our Product & Engineering team to build the next-generation platform that will transform patient care.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Lead/Senior Full-stack Engineer to join a small but high-impact engineering team. This role isn’t just about coding — it’s about owning their technical direction as they:

• Rebuild their infrastructure and core user interface from the ground up
• Migrate from Angular to a modern Next.js + React Native stack
• Deliver new, impactful features that directly improve patient experience

You’ll have real influence over architecture, design, and technical strategy. As the company grows, this role will naturally evolve into a Leadership position, giving you the chance to build and mentor a team around your vision.

What You’ll Work On

You’ll work across:

• Scalable backend services (Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL)
• Modern front-end apps (React Native, Angular → Next.js migration)
• AWS infrastructure (Terraform, ECS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines)

Your impact will stretch from backend architecture to polished user experiences, ensuring their tech scales as fast as their mission.

What's Required

• Strong experience with React / React Native
• Node.js with TypeScript expertise
• Knowledge of Next.js, RESTful APIs & relational databases (Postgres)
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services (Lambda, ECS, S3, RDS)

Nice-to-have: Terraform, Storybook, Zustand/Redux, Jest, mentoring experience
