Job Title: Senior Game Designer (Mobile Games)
Location: Remote - Worldwide (we welcome applications from any country)
Employment Type: Full-time
About Us:
We are an indie game studio passionate about pushing the boundaries of mobile gaming. Our mission is to create memorable, immersive experiences that engage and excite players around the world. We’re seeking a Senior Game Designer to take a leading role in shaping the design of our upcoming mobile titles and contribute to our growing studio.
Job Description:
As a Senior Game Designer, you will be at the forefront of our game development efforts, driving the creative vision and ensuring successful execution of gameplay mechanics, systems, and features. You will collaborate with various teams, including developers, artists, and producers, to bring new ideas to life. Your role will involve balancing creativity with data-driven design and delivering games that are not only innovative but commercially successful. If you have experience leading design on multiple game titles and thrive in a dynamic and creative environment, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the creative vision for 2D idle/casual mobile mechanics, core loops (e.g., idle progression, prestige/ascension, offline earnings), levels, and overall player experience.
- Analyze player behavior and mobile F2P KPIs (D1/D7 retention, session length, ARPDAU, LTV) to iterate on mechanics for retention and fun.
- Lead the design process for mobile F2P from concept to soft launch and live ops, ensuring high-quality gameplay and engagement.
- Research global idle/casual market trends and top-grossing patterns; translate insights into actionable features.
- Prototype quickly (paper, Figma, Unity mockups, spreadsheets) and run playtests/AB tests to validate hypotheses.
- Design & balance economies: exponential curves, costs/rewards, pacing, difficulty ramps; maintain tuning sheets.
- Monetization design for mobile F2P: rewarded video placement/cadence, interstitial strategy, IAP pricing/bundles, battle passes—without harming UX.
- Collaborate with engineering, 2D art/UI and production to ship features optimized for a wide range of devices (portrait/landscape, small screens).
- Own mobile UI/UX flows and wireframes for touch, readability, and minimal taps; create clear specs and diagrams.
- Plan and evaluate Live Ops: events, daily quests, limited-time boosters, offers; define success metrics and iterate.
- Create and maintain concise GDDs, feature specs, flowcharts, and economy models for cross-team alignment.
Requirements:
- Proficient in both written and spoken English.
- 5+ years of experience in game design, with at least 2 released games in the mobile space.
- Extensive experience with free-to-play, monetization models, and player progression systems.
- Strong understanding of the mobile gaming market, including player behavior, trends, and best practices for iOS and Android platforms.
- A deep understanding of game mechanics, level design, and player motivation within mobile games.
- Proficiency in game design tools and software, such as Unity or Godot.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adapt quickly to change and contribute to a fast-paced, dynamic studio environment.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with live operations and post-launch support of mobile games.
- Knowledge of player analytics tools and data-driven design.
What We Offer:
- Flexible working hours and remote work options.
- Leadership role in a passionate, creative, and growing indie studio.
- Opportunity to shape the future of our games and have a significant impact on our success.
- Competitive compensation and the potential for growth within the studio.
- Career growth and personal development opportunities.
- 31 days annual leave.
