Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented NOC Engineer to monitor, maintain, and support critical network systems and infrastructure. As part of the Network Operations Center (NOC) team, you will be responsible for identifying and resolving incidents, escalating complex issues, and ensuring maximum availability and performance of IT and network systems.
This role is vital to our uptime guarantees and involves real-time monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining systems in a high-availability environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor network infrastructure, servers, and systems using NOC tools and dashboards.
- Identify, triage, and respond to alerts, incidents, and outages in real-time.
- Perform initial troubleshooting and escalation for hardware, software, or network-related issues.
- Create and manage incident tickets using ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
- Escalate complex or unresolved issues to Tier 2/3 teams per escalation procedures.
- Document incident details, resolution steps, and post-mortem analyses.
- Conduct routine health checks and maintenance tasks across systems (backups, patches, updates).
- Work in 24/7 rotating shifts (if applicable) to provide continuous monitoring and support.
- Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and vendors as needed.
- Assist in implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and improving incident response.
- Generate and analyze reports on incidents, performance metrics, and service uptime.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- 2/- years of experience in a NOC, technical support, or IT operations environment.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing, switching).
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds, PRTG, or Datadog.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix and Windows server environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and incident documentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and follow procedures accurately in critical situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: CCNA, CompTIA Network+, ITIL Foundation, or similar.
- Experience with cloud monitoring (AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor).
- Exposure to scripting (Shell, PowerShell, Python) for automation.
- Experience with ticketing systems like ServiceNow or Jira Service Desk.
- Knowledge of firewall, load balancer, or security appliance monitoring.
