Join our technology-driven team at Detector Inspector and help build automation and AI-assisted solutions that streamline processes, reduce operational costs, and create real business impact.
About Us
Founded in 2005, Detector Inspector helps keep homes safe and makes safety compliance easier for property managers. From smoke detector maintenance to gas appliance servicing and electrical safety checks, our services are supported by proprietary technology and Australia’s first in-house safety compliance system for real estate. We’re a technology-driven, fast-growing company committed to innovation and continuous improvement.
About the role:
In this role, you’ll work across the stack, contributing to APIs, integrations, and automation tools that support both immediate cost savings and long-term strategic opportunities. You’ll be part of a supportive, innovative environment that values curiosity, problem-solving, and delivering measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to design and implement automation solutions
- Build and maintain APIs that integrate with internal and third-party systems (e.g., Zendesk, Atlassian, CRM platforms)
- Develop AI-assisted workflows and automation tools to reduce operational costs and improve efficiency
- Take ownership of the full software development lifecycle, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and maintainable
- Contribute to technical standards, code reviews, and architectural best practices
- Deliver projects that focus on measurable business outcomes rather than just technical outputs
- Engage in full-stack development, including front-end, back-end, and integrations, with opportunities to cross-skill
- Validate solutions through testing, user feedback, and iteration to ensure usability and reliability
What we’re looking for:
- University degree (or equivalent) plus 3+ years’ industry experience in software development
- Experience with PHP frameworks and JavaScript (ReactJS, React Native, NodeJS)
- Familiarity with AWS services (Lambda, EC2, RDS, SQS, ECS) and CI/CD
- Experience building and consuming APIs and integrating with platforms like Zendesk or Atlassian
- Passion for automation, scalable solutions, and delivering business value
- Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Why join us:
- Supportive, collaborative team culture
- Build solutions that deliver tangible business impact
- Flexible working arrangements, including potential for remote work
- Grow with a fast-moving, innovative, tech-driven company
