Senior Infrastructure cloud engineer


The Senior Cloud Engineer is primarily responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the organization’s cloud infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 services. While the focus is on cloud engineering at a senior level, the role also requires active involvement in a broad range of infrastructure-related tasks, including on-premises systems, virtualization, networking, and security.

This position is ideal for a highly skilled cloud specialist who is also comfortable handling traditional infrastructure operations as needed. Flexibility and a willingness to contribute to all areas of IT infrastructure are essential, as the role may require supporting or leading projects outside the core cloud domain.



Key Responsibilities


Cloud & Microsoft 365 Administration

• Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and security controls.

• Administer Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint Online), focusing on security, performance, and user adoption.

• Configure and maintain user accounts, permissions, and access controls in Microsoft 365 and Azure.

• Manage and support hybrid cloud integration (Azure AD/Entra ID Connect, conditional access, identity governance).

• Monitor system health, performance, and security across Azure and Microsoft 365.

• Support automation and optimization of cloud deployments using scripting or Infrastructure-as-Code (PowerShell, ARM/Bicep, Terraform).

• Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues on Microsoft 365 and Azure service utilization.


Infrastructure Operations & Virtualization

• Design, deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Citrix application streaming and VDI environments, ensuring optimal user experience and availability.

• Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), including hosts, guest VMs, and related infrastructure components.

• Administer server infrastructure, ensuring lifecycle management, patching, and capacity planning.

• Manage SCCM (or Intune where applicable) to provide end-user infrastructure updates, patches, and application delivery.

• Provide 2nd/3rd level support for infrastructure services and internal applications.

• Deploy, administer and troubleshoot Active Directory infrastructure. Core Infrastructure Services

• Collaborate on Active Directory administration, including objects, GPOs, replication, and security.

• Work with networking teams to deploy, manage, and troubleshoot networking infrastructure (LAN, WAN, firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching).

• Manage storage platforms, backup and recovery solutions, and ensure compliance with business continuity/disaster recovery requirements.

• Implement infrastructure monitoring and alerting tools to ensure high availability and rapid incident response.

• Collaborate closely with the cybersecurity team to implement and enforce security best practices across infrastructure and cloud environments.

Automation, Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and monitoring.

• Stay up to date with emerging technologies, cloud services, and infrastructure trends, providing recommendations for adoption and optimization.

• Document architecture, processes, procedures, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and operational consistency.

• Provide mentorship and knowledge transfer sessions to the other members of the team.

• Participate in IT projects

• Seek mentorship for any skill that is relevant to the organization with the manager’s approval.



Qualifications & Skills


• Technical Expertise

o Proven experience in Citrix administration (VDI, application streaming,

deployments, and maintenance).

o Strong experience in virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V).

o Demonstrated experience in Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams,

OneDrive, SharePoint) and Azure administration (IaaS, PaaS, identity management, conditional access).

o Strong Active Directory knowledge (objects, group policies, replication).o Proficiency in PowerShell scripting; knowledge of IaC tools (Terraform, ARM, Bicep) is a plus.

o Working knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing, switching, firewall rules).

o Experience managing backup solutions, storage systems, and disaster recovery planning.

o Familiarity with SQL administration.

o Experience with endpoint management tools such as SCCM and/or Intune.


• Soft Skills

o Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with experience working in cross-functional teams.

o Analytical mindset with attention to detail and security implications.

o Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


• Preferred/Valued Skills

o Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps).

o Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

o Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, ManageEngine, LogAnalytics, etc.).
