The Opportunity
Sephora Internships provide an inclusive and comprehensive experience that equips young professionals with the tools needed to align their passions with work. The 10-week internship program develops early career professionals by providing interns with hands-on learning, personal and professional networking opportunities, and the ability to work on projects that directly impact the business.
The Sephora internship program is also a prerequisite for consideration for LEAP, the cross-functional rotational program that provides on-the-job training in each of three Business Units-Supply Chain, Marketing, and Merchandising, over the course of nine months. LEAP prepares successfully performing trainees for a full-time, entry-level role in one of the three Business Units. Interns are invited to apply to LEAP at the beginning of the summer internship.

- Working hours: 36hrs/week. Monday – Friday, PST
- June 15 – 19, 2026: On-Site Week in San Francisco at headquarters office
- June 29 – July 3, 2026: Week off for Summer Shutdown
YOUR ROLE AT SEPHORA...
As the Intern, Data Scientist, Technology, you collaborate with Data Science and Engineering to transform Sephora’s customer, product, and campaign data into functional ML prototypes (recommendations, rankings, and insights) that enhance customer experience and business results.
What You Will Accomplish
- Explore, clean, and merge large omnichannel datasets (transactions, products/catalogs, content, campaigns) to create reliable training and evaluation sets.
- Develop and evaluate ML prototypes (e.g., recommendation, ranking, classification) using clear, business-aligned metrics like AUC, CTR, redemption lift, and revenue impact.
- Build repeatable feature pipelines in Python/PySpark on Databricks; log experiments and publish features to the feature store.
- Conduct offline and online experiments; develop concise reports and dashboards, and present findings to Product, Merchandising, and Engineering.
- Ship your work as well-documented notebooks or lightweight services/APIs and create clear “how-to” documentation in Confluence.
- Demonstrate our Sephora values: Passion, Innovation, Expertise, Balance, Respect, Teamwork, and Initiative.
- Strong Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) and SQL skills; familiarity with PySpark/Databricks is a plus.
- Hands-on experience building ML models (recommendation, ranking, or classification) and evaluating them with appropriate metrics.
- Practical data wrangling skills and comfort working with imperfect, large-scale datasets; solid problem-solving and ownership mindset.
- Version control (Git) and notebook-driven workflow; clear documentation and presentation skills for technical and non-technical partners.
- Nice-to-have: experience with A/B testing, feature stores/MLflow, or LLM/prompt engineering for analytics/assistant use cases.
- Graduating in 2026 or 2027 (undergraduate or graduate degree)
- Remote program – work schedule must align with Pacific Standard Time
- Must permanently reside and work in the U.S.
- Must be open to relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area upon graduation for consideration for full-time hybrid positions *

- Available for the 1-week On-Site office experience in San Francisco, CA
