Department Overview
The System Engineering organisation is part of the post-sales International Markets organisation within Motorola Solutions. This team is responsible for designing and guiding the technical implementation of government and commercial communications system solutions, leveraging new technologies and approaches sourced from both inside and outside of Motorola Solutions. Typical systems and products include Communications Control Centres, Wireless Data and Voice Systems, Signalling and Remote Control Systems, Broadband Wireless Systems, and Public Safety Applications.
Job Description
The Engineering Lead together with peers in Europe, Asia and the MEA will guide and develop a team of highly specialized engineers in the delivery of communications solutions and services to Motorola’s clients across the international region. The Engineering Lead addresses Customer, Business and People matters managing the balance between the three through sound judgement and supervision.
Basic Requirements
- Forecast of functional workload and provisioning technical capacity and capabilities as per business needs, current and future.
- Coordinate the creation and maintenance of relevant technology and solution capabilities consistent with Motorola Solutions business goals.
- Manage the tracking of particular staff competencies and project utilization for effective deployment of resources to new, existing and completing projects
- Manage, coach and mentor direct reports including conducting dialogues and performance reviews.
- Review and approval of post-award technical documents including equipment lists, acceptance test plans, design and construction packs and system drawings.
- Ownership and/or supervision of Field and/or Customer issue resolution and support activities as required.
- Collaboration with other Engineering managers to ensure a consistent approach to the growth, development and training of the engineering team.
- Objectives set with clear criteria and on time for all team members, in line with corporate directives.
- Perform regular performance reviews ensuring that objectives are followed into success.
- Maintaining and developing a Critical and Leadership Talent pool, with personal development plans, including development plans as opportunities to experience the skills further.
- Travel, domestic and international, will be required (10 - 15%).
