We are seeking a Lead Solver Engineer to join our interdisciplinary R&D team and play a key role in the development of advanced solvers powering our next-generation imaging systems. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex inverse problems, cutting-edge numerical methods, and real-time medical applications in a collaborative and high-impact environment.

What Success Looks Like

You will lead the design and implementation of large-scale, high-performance solvers for RF tomography. Your work will directly contribute to breakthrough imaging technologies for real-time brain diagnostics. You’ll collaborate with physicists, hardware engineers, and software developers to bring robust, scalable computational methods from prototype to clinical reality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain solvers for large-scale PDEs and inverse problems in computational imaging.
  • Optimize performance of existing solver pipelines (CPU/GPU, parallelism, memory management).
  • Integrate solvers into production workflows in collaboration with broader engineering and algorithm teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers and researchers.
  • Ensure numerical robustness, speed, and scalability across multiple imaging scenarios.
  • Contribute to long-term R&D strategy in solver architecture and computational techniques.

Qualifications

Essential Skills & Experience

  • MSc or PhD in Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computational Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in scientific computing with a focus on solver development.
  • Strong expertise in numerical methods: FDTD, FEM, FDFD, integral equations, multigrid, Krylov solvers.
  • Proficiency with high-performance computing libraries (e.g., PETSc, Trilinos, MFEM, Hypre, deal.II).
  • Solid programming skills in C/C++ and/or Fortran, with experience in optimization and parallel computing (MPI, OpenMP, CUDA).
  • Track record of debugging, validating, and refactoring complex numerical code.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and leading computational software development efforts.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with real-time or embedded systems in scientific or medical applications.
  • Familiarity with adjoint methods, PDE-constrained optimization, or inverse problems.
  • Exposure to ML-enhanced solvers (e.g., PINNs) or physics-informed neural networks.
  • Workflow automation and scripting in Python (NumPy, petsc4py, PyTorch, JAX).

Who You Are

  • Passionate about computational science and medical innovation.
  • A collaborative problem-solver who thrives on complex challenges.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and driven by impact.
