Senior Software Engineer
Job Summary
As a Senior C/C++ Software Engineer on the Modeling, Simulation, and Training Tools (MST) team, you will build software tools that are used to provide detailed engineering simulation and analysis services internationally, and other Global Engineering & Technology partners.
These services include systems-level simulations of rides and attractions, as well as Software-In-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) software design and testing platforms.
ResponsibilitiesLead and assist in the development of desktop applications and software APIs for internal engineering and creative partners.
Write unit tests and regression test documentation for developed software.
Create clear technical and user documentation.
Troubleshoot and resolve software issues for deployed systems.
Provide expertise in computer hardware and software to multidisciplinary teams, influencing purchasing and system design decisions.
5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and testing Windows/Linux desktop applications using C or C++.
5+ years of experience with industrial control equipment, such as Rockwell or Siemens PLCs and/or Beckhoff GPCs.
Experience with network communications (sockets, UDP, TCP, industrial protocols).
Background in high-performance or real-time application and simulation development.
Proven ability to collaborate within a highly technical project team, including solution architecture and mentorship.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal customers and partners.
Proactive team player, eager to collaborate to achieve project milestones.
Adaptable to learning new technologies and languages to solve engineering challenges.
Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles.
Experience writing unit tests and regression documentation.
Strong troubleshooting and debugging capabilities.
Proficiency with Visual Studio and other engineering development tools.
Experience with Agile software development practices (Scrum, sprint planning, retrospectives).
Working knowledge of Git and continuous integration tools (e.g., GitLab CI).
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited curriculum.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in engineering for the entertainment industry — particularly Ride and Show Control Systems.
Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC hardware.
Knowledge of Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulation.
Familiarity with Systems Engineering tools and processes (e.g., SysML, IDEF0).
- Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.
