Role Description
The AI / ML Engineer will design, develop, and implement advanced algorithms and models to enhance our Price Transparency Platform. The candidate will work on projects encompassing pattern recognition, neural networks, and statistical modeling. Responsibilities also include collaborating with cross-functional teams, analyzing data sets, optimizing machine learning models, and contributing to software development lifecycle. The position requires continuous research and development to keep our platform on the cutting edge of technology.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years in ML/AI engineering, with 2+ years shipping LLM/RAG systems to production
- Strong Python and SQL.
- Snowflake Cortex / Vector Search, Snowpark UDFs, Native Apps, Snowpark Container Services
- AWS (S3, Lambda, EC2, ECS, SQS, SNS)
- Document AI experience: parsing PDF/DOCX, handling OCR, Chunking.
- Built retrieval pipelines end-to-end (embeddings, indexing, hybrid search/rerankers)
- Proven prompt/tool orchestration and grounding with citations; low-hallucination patterns
- Solid data modeling and evaluation skills (gold sets, offline/online metrics)
- Clear communicator; collaborates well with product/SMEs; security-minded
- Must be location Pacific time zone or willing to relocate.
Highly Preferred
- Candidates located in San Francisco Bay Area (Our office is in San Ramon)
- Healthcare domain: payer-provider contracts, CPT/HCPCS/Rev/DRG, reimbursement & policy concepts
- OCR/Doc AI tools (Unstructured, PyMuPDF/pdfplumber, AWS Textract) and table structure recovery
- IR depth: BM25/hybrid retrieval, dense encoders, rerankers, query expansion
- Agentic systems: multi-tool routing (SQL over Snowflake, clause resolvers), guardrails, RBAC
- Open-source model serving (vLLM/TGI) or managed providers; latency & cost optimization
- MLOps for LLMs: prompt/versioning, eval harnesses, drift detection, telemetry
