Specialist Operational Support Systems

Role Purpose

Responsible for the administration, support, and maintenance of middleware platforms and integration services across the enterprise. This role ensures seamless communication between applications, systems, and services by managing and troubleshooting middleware components, especially ESB solutions such as IBM Integration Bus, MuleSoft, Oracle Service Bus, or Apache Camel. Responsible for analyzing the performance and efficiency of operational systems and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Key Accountabilities

• Analyze system performance data and identify bottlenecks.
• Identify opportunities for system optimization and improvement.
• Develop and implement system enhancements.
• Prepare reports and presentations on system performance.
• Collaborate with operations teams to gather requirements and understand their needs.
• Stay updated on new technologies and industry best practices.
• Ensure system compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the operations team.
• Assist in deploying integration solutions and middleware components across environments (Dev, QA, Prod).
• Configure and tune middleware systems for optimal performance and scalability.
• Maintain environment consistency and manage version control of integration artifacts.
• Respond to and resolve incidents related to middleware and ESB systems.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
• Collaborate with application teams and vendors to resolve integration-related issues.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation for integration flows, configurations, and support procedures.
• Experience with ESB platforms (e.g., MuleSoft, IBM IIB, Oracle Service Bus, Apache Camel).
• Proficiency in XML, XSLT, SOAP, REST, JMS, and other integration protocols.
• Familiarity with middleware technologies such as WebLogic, WebSphere, Tomcat, or JBoss.
