Lead DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer - £65k-£75k

  • Location: Liverpool, 5 mins from Train Station (with hybrid/flexible working - ~2 days in office/week - more flexibility is an option too when required!)
  • Reporting to: Head of Platform/Engineering
  • Team: Platform & Infrastructure

  • joining the core engineering team behind their flagship product that powers mission-critical estate management, compliance and facilities operations across hundreds of UK sites (hospitals, universities, commercial estates, public sector).
  • running the infrastructure in a security-first, high-availability mindset (UK-hosted, Azure, etc.), whilst also pushing further into AI, automation, observability, and reliability engineering.
  • defining how to scale, monitor, and improve platform resilience as the platform continue to grow into adjacent markets and acquires new modules and capabilities.


The Company Story & Status

You will be working with a fast-scaling technology & property services platform, backed by leading private equity, transforming how organisations manage their estates, assets, compliance and facilities via their flagship product.

Over the last decade, they've grown by doing more than just “keep the lights on", they acquired complementary businesses, integrated them, and built a next-generation IWMS / CAFM solution used by dozens of major public and private sector estates including the NHS.


You'll be joining a team of 6 across Infrastructure, Data and Platform, with plans to grow. You'll also work with the 10-strong Engineering team, which is also going through a significant growth phase, as they begin their major transformation and modernization phase.


They have continued to invest aggressively in acquisitions and technology, most recently, acquiring a mobile data collection / field workforce solution, to further boost their flagship ecosystem. In 2024 they also merged with a major Project Management and Property Consultancy firm to massively strengthen their project delivery & consultancy.


What capability do you need & what will you be doing?

  • Design, build and maintain scalable, secure, resilient infrastructure to support flagship platform backend and services
  • Define and evolve CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment, infrastructure as code, configuration management (Octopus Deploy, Terraform, Azure, GitHub Actions)
  • Optimize and extend observability, logging, tracing/alerting systems etc. (Prometheus Grafana etc.)
  • Work with acquisitions / engineering teams in integrating acquired software, services, and infrastructure into the ecosystem
  • Security-first mindset
  • Provide tooling and self-service capabilities to enable other engineers to deploy and operate services efficiently
  • You must also have a commercial awareness


Skillset required:

  • A solid track record (several years) in DevOps / SRE / Platform engineering
  • Strong experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform)
  • Good knowledge of containerization, orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Expertise in observability stacks (metrics, logs, tracing) and incident management
  • Comfortable shaping and improving architecture, and making trade-offs for reliability vs. cost vs. speed
  • Experience integrating / migrating systems in acquisitions or mergers is a plus
