Job Description:

FTS is seeking a highly motivated Junior Software Engineer to join our team. This entry-level position is designed for an individual with foundational programming skills and a strong interest in networking, production maintenance, and security. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision and mentorship of our Product Lead, gaining hands-on experience in software development, system reliability, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Development, maintenance, and monitoring of production applications.
• Identification, troubleshooting, and resolution of software, networking, and system issues.
• Performance monitoring and testing activities under the guidance of the Product Lead.
• Deployment and installation of optimized configurations for client environments.
• Engage in agile software development processes, including sprint planning and execution.
• Document processes, system updates, and improvements to ensure effective knowledge sharing within the team.
• Demonstrate continuous learning and apply new skills to enhance individual and team performance.

Mentorship and Training

The Junior Software Developer will receive structured training and guidance from the Product Lead, whose areas of expertise include:

• Assessing, identifying, and implementing functional and performance design enhancements.
• Improving system reliability and scalability.
• Application performance monitoring and testing.
• Leading deployment and installation of optimized client configurations.
• Agile software development methodologies.
• Maximizing the effectiveness and value of software development organizations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Basic proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, or similar).
• Familiarity with networking concepts, production systems, or cybersecurity is desirable.
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments is an advantage.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
• Demonstrated eagerness to learn and commitment to professional development.

Familiarity with

• Product Software Development
• API Definitions

• Using Test Tools (UI, Test Studio for manual Tests, etc.)
• Agile software development, Scrum development process
• OWASP
• Secure transmission of data; HTTPS / TLS / SSL
• SQL Server Database

Web development skills:

• Angular
• DevOps

• JavaScript Object Notation

Operations:

• Set up in-house test systems
• Adherence to IT Security
• Quality Assurance

Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, OneNote), Teams

• Strong in Excel

Knowledge of the Microsoft Software Stack

• MS Windows Server, SQL Server, Microsoft Azure
• .NET Core, EF Core

Related Experience desired, but not required:

• Workflow management systems such as Smartsheets, Integrify, others
• CRM or ERP solutions, e.g. Microsoft Dynamics
• Experience with Business Intelligence systems, e.g. Power BI
• Best security practices, ISO 27001 in general
• High Availability (Load Balancing and Failover systems)
• Experience with rollouts of enterprise applications
• Encryption usage/experience
• AI supported software development
• XBRL taxonomies, instance files, and XBRL engines

Must reside in Austria, have EU citizenship or have existing work permit, work from home, meetings in-person occur in Vienna
