Our client, Icelandair and their Digital Operations team ensures the reliability, security, and performance of the technology that keeps their airline moving. You will optimize systems, protect critical operations, and continuously seek opportunities for improvement.

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to keep their databases running smoothly 24/7. You will play a key role in ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our SQL Server environments while also supporting other database platforms.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Take operational responsibility for Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • Design and implement high-availability, high-performance, and cost-efficient database solutions.
  • Manage database backup and recovery strategies, including point-in-time recovery.
  • Perform regular testing and evaluations to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.
  • Monitor database performance, tune configurations, and apply patches and upgrades when required.
  • Provide support for Oracle databases and other system administrators if needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, and backup/recovery.
  • Experience with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL – beneficial.
  • Excellent understanding of database security, integrity, and SQL.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
  • High proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Professional mindset, proactive approach, and ability to work independently.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, and backup/recovery.
  • Experience with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL is beneficial.
  • Excellent understanding of database security, integrity, and SQL.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
  • Excellent proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
