About the role
We are now looking for an experienced Senior Firmware Engineer to join our highly skilled R&D team in Espoo.
In this key role, you will:
- be a strong technical expert in embedded firmware and system-level development
- design, develop, and maintain firmware for Unigraf’s advanced video test equipment
- document and test the code, write unit tests
- perform low-level debugging and protocol analysis
- perform design/code reviews and document results
- define time estimates for the tasks together with the team
- report work progress through regular R&D team meetings
- work closely with key customers on joint R&D projects to develop new technology
You will work as part of Unigraf’s firmware team, contributing directly to test solutions used by leading global electronics companies. This is a challenging and rewarding environment, offering opportunities to mentor colleagues, guide technical decisions, and help shape best practices across the team.
What We’re Looking For
You are an experienced embedded developer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges. You take initiative, enjoy collaborating with a skilled international team, and can balance detail-oriented work with a broader system-level perspective. Your expertise enables you to guide others and elevate the team’s overall technical excellence.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a Firmware / Embedded Software Engineer
- Strong expertise in embedded systems, hardware interfaces, and low-level debugging
- Solid knowledge of C and C++ ecosystems, including build tools (gcc, make, etc.)
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within virtual teams
- Excellent team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills in English
Would Be a Plus:
- Familiarity with DisplayPort, HDMI, or USB-C technologies
- Experience with Altera NiosII architecture and development environment
- Experience with cross-platform development tools (e.g. Qt)
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies
