STEM Recruitment Partners is partnering with a medical device company based in Dublin, which is seeking an experienced Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer to join its global device engineering team working on advanced medical device projects. This role offers lucrative hourly rates and the opportunity to contribute to the entire hardware lifecycle, from concept and design through to verification and support.
- This is a 12 month contract role with the opportunity to work on a complex, next-gen medical device.
- Lucrative hourly rates available.
- Onsite will be required (3 days per week)
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded hardware for complex medical combination devices.
- Collaborate closely with software and firmware teams for seamless system integration.
- Lead system architecture design and present to internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct hardware design reviews and support customer requirements analysis.
- Use Altium Designer for schematic capture and documentation.
- Design, develop, and test PCBAs using digital and analogue techniques.
- Implement wireless and wired communication technologies (BLE, LoRa, CAN Bus, UART, MODBUS, RS485/232, SPI, I2C).
- Develop and execute validation tests in collaboration with verification teams.
- Research and apply low-power, battery-operated design principles, including DC-DC conversion.
- Support design for manufacturing (DFM) and ensure compliance with relevant safety and quality standards (e.g., IEC60601-1).
- Troubleshoot and resolve embedded hardware issues efficiently.
- Contribute to multi-disciplinary, Agile development projects and drive design innovation.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in electronic design and development, ideally in a regulated industry (medical devices preferred).
- Proficient in Altium Designer (admin/super user level desirable).
- Expertise in high-speed PCB, digital, and RF design.
- Experience with embedded programming (C/C++); Python knowledge beneficial.
- Hands-on experience with platforms like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and ESP32.
- Strong understanding of low-power design and DC-DC converters.
- Skilled in using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power meters.
- Familiarity with Agile processes and cross-functional collaboration.
