Position Summary

Project Manager, Program Mgmt-Surgery We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Surgical Program team. This individual will be responsible for supporting the planning, development, and execution of key strategic initiatives within the Surgical portfolio. This will include the launch of a new robotics program. The Project Manager will offer leadership and oversight across all stages of these strategic initiatives, ensuring the effective implementation of the robotics program and associated developments. This role requires demonstrated project management experience, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in guiding cross-functional teams to achieve defined objectives. The successful candidate will be proactive, exhibit sound judgment, and perform effectively with limited supervision. The role also requires organizational and analytical skills, as well as an understanding of health service integration. Responsibilities include managing projects using project management methodologies and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Project Manager will serve as the main point of contact for assigned projects and report to the Director of Surgery. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will

  • Be responsible for the effective planning and implementation of the Surgical Robotics Program
  • Lead, organize and facilitate project-related meetings, develop project reports and maintain project plans, presentations, statistics and other related documents, as required
  • Develop all project management related materials, including project charter, work breakdown structures, Key Performance Indicators, milestone maps, status reports, etc. in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with all project stakeholders and provide effective communication; both written and verbal.
  • Proactively identify any project risks and recommend solutions and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure project deliverables are met on time, within budget and within scope
  • Be responsible for helping evolve North York General Hospital’s Project Management methodology
  • Mentor and coach team members on project management principles

  • During critical times of any project implementation, you may be required to work off-hours and/or non-business hours.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or in a health-related field or an equivalent mix of education and work experience.
  • PMP Certification or active enrolment in PMP certification process.
  • Proven experience in project management, preferably within a healthcare or surgical setting.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in project leadership and management.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a complex health care environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including demonstrated experience with MS Office Suite, including MS Project.
  • Project management skills, with extensive knowledge of project management principles and tool.
  • Extensive knowledge of business process design, impact analysis, change management and problem resolution.
  • Appreciation for an acute care setting or a strong clinical background would be considered an asset.
