Our client is one of Ireland’s leading project management practice, specialising in the delivery of complex construction and infrastructure projects across the country in sectors including Commercial, Residential, Healthcare, and Pharma. They work in a cultivating and dynamic environment where ambitious talent can grow into future industry leaders.
They are looking to hire a highly motivated and ambitious Assistant Project Manager to join their growing team in Cork. This is an exceptional opportunity for a recent graduate to begin a rewarding career, working alongside senior managers and experienced industry professionals. You will gain hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle, learning to drive projects forward while maintaining quality, budget, and scope. The role is office based for the first six months while you expand your experience and thereafter will be a hybrid type role.
Key Responsibilities
You will be mentored to assist senior staff across a range of critical functions:
1. Planning, Coordination & Scheduling
- Project Documentation: Assist in the preparation, organization, and distribution of essential project documents, reports, and meeting minutes.
- Timeline Management: Support the development and maintenance of detailed project schedules, tracking key milestones and dependencies using project management software.
- Logistics Coordination: Coordinate project activities and logistics between the design team, contractors, vendors, and internal departments.
2. Financial & Quality Control
- Budget Monitoring: Assist in monitoring project expenditures against the approved budget, tracking costs, and managing purchase orders.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in site quality inspections and reviews to ensure work is executed to the required specifications and industry standards.
- Compliance: Ensure all project activities adhere to relevant statutory requirements, health and safety regulations, and internal quality standards.
3. Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Reporting: Prepare clear, concise, and professional progress reports for clients, senior management, and internal stakeholders.
- Client Liaison: Assist in managing effective communication channels, supporting client meetings, and responding to client queries promptly.
- Risk & Issue Resolution: Contribute to the risk management process by identifying potential risks, logging project issues, and assisting in the development of mitigating solutions.
4. Site Attendance & Delivery Support
- Site Visits: Conduct regular site visits and inspections alongside Senior Project Managers to monitor progress, observe construction activities, and record site diaries.
- Problem-Solving: Proactively flag potential delays or issues and collaborate with the site team to find practical, timely solutions.
Candidate Profile
- Education: A recent graduate (within the last 12-18 months) with a Bachelor's degree (minimum 2.1) in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Drive & Ambition: A keen and demonstrated interest in developing a long-term career in Project Management within the construction industry.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptionally strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and a methodical approach to task management.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable interacting professionally with clients and site personnel.
- IT Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and a willingness to learn industry-specific software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, BIM applications).
- Work Ethic: A proactive, collaborative, and adaptable team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Mobility: The successful candidate will need to be mobile and have a full driving licence to allow them to visit project sites.
