Software Engineer, New Search & Analytics Engine

Location: Gothenburg, Sweden (hybrid). Employment: Full-time. Level: Junior–Senior (multiple roles).

Why Vesiro

Vesiro is building a drop-in, high-performance alternative to Elasticsearch/OpenSearch. In customer benchmarks we’ve seen ~2.8x faster search enabling up to 50% fewer nodes, which means massive savings in server cost. If you want to push the limits of algorithms, data structures, and systems performance, you’ll like it here.

What you’ll do

You will be part of a skilled and driven software engineering team, and you’ll tackle complex technical challenges as you take part in designing, developing, and optimizing core systems of our search engine. Working closely with a small, dedicated team, you’ll directly contribute to shaping our product and engineering culture. This is a hands-on opportunity to make a meaningful impact, see your ideas come to life, and help set the technical foundation for a product that’s already attracting attention from industry leaders. If you’re excited by cutting-edge technology and solving real-world problems, we’d love to hear from you.

Own core pieces of a next-gen search & analytics engine. You’ll:

·      Design, build, and optimize high-performance C++ components across query execution, indexing, compression, memory management, and I/O.

·      Benchmark and profile at scale and drive end-to-end performance optimization.

·      Collaborate tightly with a small, skilled team where you’ll ship fast.

What we’re looking for

·      Deep CS fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, concurrency, hardware awareness, and a performance mindset.

·      Strong in C++. Java proficiency for integration with the broader search stack.

·      Comfortable with Linux, profiling tools, and writing production code that’s both fast and correct.

·      Clear communicator who takes ownership and gets things done.

Nice to have

·      Experience with OpenSearch / Elasticsearch / Lucene internals.

·      Prior work (or serious hobby projects) in IR, databases, storage engines, compression, or HPC.

·      Previous startup experience.

·      MSc/PhD in CS/Math/Physics—or equivalent depth via experience.

What We Offer

·      Competitive salary + meaningful equity.

·      Hybrid in Gothenburg, Sweden.

·      A vibrant, supportive team culture that values innovation, ownership, and growth.

·      The chance to shape a product and make a real impact in the database space.
