Job Description: Field Engineer - Network (Cisco Access Devices)
Location: Single large property (approximately 500 IT rooms)
Project Overview:
This is a project-based role with an expected duration of four (4) months. The project involves large-scale replacement and commissioning of Cisco access network devices across approximately 500 IT rooms within a single large property. The Field Engineer will be responsible for performing on-site installation, replacement, and validation of Cisco switches and related equipment. Coordination with the Network Operations Center (NOC) is essential to ensure seamless service migration, accurate patching, and minimal downtime during the replacement activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out installation, replacement, and connectivity verification of Cisco access network devices across designated IT rooms.
- Perform fiber and copper patching between active network devices, patch panels, and uplink connections according to defined standards.
- Conduct pre- and post-installation testing, including link verification, port mapping, and VLAN consistency checks.
- Coordinate in real time with the Network Operations Center (NOC) for configuration activation, network cutover, and issue resolution.
- Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and update of network patching records after each intervention.
- Identify and escalate site-level issues such as rack space limitations, power availability, or cabling discrepancies.
- Maintain adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and safety procedures.
- Participate in commissioning and handover activities, ensuring that all replaced equipment is fully operational and aligned with network design.
- Support inventory control, ensuring the accurate tracking of devices removed, installed, and returned.
- Follow all HSE guidelines and property access requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in field network implementation, maintenance, or upgrade projects.
- Proven hands-on experience with Cisco access switches (preferably Catalyst 9000 series).
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic and copper structured cabling, including patching standards, connector types, and link verification methods.
- Familiarity with rack layouts, power connections (UPS/PDU), and network room environment standards.
- Experience working within large campuses or multi-building sites with centralized NOC coordination.
- Ability to interpret network drawings, patching schedules, and labeling schemes.
- CCNA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with the NOC and project management team.
- Good documentation and reporting practices using ticketing or field management tools.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time on-site role across a large property with multiple IT rooms.
- Project-based contract with an expected duration of four (4) months.
- Work schedule may include off-hours or weekend shifts to support cutover windows.
- Daily coordination with the Network Operations Center for status updates and task validation.
- All necessary tools, PPE, and orientation will be provided.

- Reports to: Project Manager / NOC Lead
- Coordinates with: NOC Engineers, Site Supervisors, and Logistics Team
