What you'll be doing

As one of the first members on the engineering team, you will be building, launching and scaling our Node / React.js / React Native mobile app & web apps.

Full-stack development: Bring to life intuitive, engaging and performant user interfaces, from database architecture to front-end interaction design.

Quality assurance: Adhere to rigorous quality assurance processes and standards to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our technology stack.

Technical principles and processes: Use and improve a scalable software development life cycle and operational structures to accommodate our growth.

Infrastructure: Provide insights on scalable, secure, and compliant infrastructure/software stacks, collaborating with hosting service providers for cost-effective operations.

Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with the Founder, Product Design, Engineers and and other stakeholders to align technical initiatives with business goals and user requirements.

Team growth: Assist in attracting and onboarding talented engineers by being a talented engineer, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

Security & compliance: Ensure the utmost privacy and security of customer data across the organisation, with the ability to work with external penetration testing if required. As a founding/contributing member of the team you will have a large hand in shaping the strategy and vision of the entire organisation!

What you’ll already have

• Experience working in a sub 10 person company (or client) in a small team of engineers, in the last 5 years
• A proven track record of hands on, full stack technical capability in building and scaling consumer-facing digital products (global B2C)
• Experience coding functional software paradigms in Typescript AND/OR experience with a functional language (e.g. Haskell, Scala, Rust). Think monads, pattern matching, and the isolation of side effects
• An ability to move quickly, think commercially and care deeply about shipping code of high quality
• Experience with a declarative stack deployments
• Experience working with server-less Cloud functions (AWS ideally but not essential)
• Experience hardening authentication security and the secure use of API tokens & keys in frontend code
• DevOps experience (writing & improving the efficiency of deployment pipelines)
• Experience in React and ideally Next.js (but not a problem if it’s only React)
• Opinions about what makes code safe, testable, and debuggable
