On behalf of the European Space Agency, we are looking for a highly skilled Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Engineer to work in ESTEC, in the Netherlands.

AI Engineering

What is expected from you:

  • Support the definition of AI systems and their elaboration.
  • Contribute to the analysis and trade-off of AI techniques and technologies.
  • Support the integration and deployment of AI solutions into existing systems and workflows.
  • Contribute to the collection, preprocessing, and management of data required for training AI models ensuring data quality, consistency, and availability.
  • Support the verification and validation process of AI systems.
  • Assist in the training of AI models using relevant data and evaluate their performance with possible fine-tuning of models to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support the monitoring the performance of AI systems and making necessary adjustments to ensure they continue to operate effectively while handling maintenance and updates to keep the systems up to date.
  • Aid providing inputs to the definition of standards related to the development and deployment of AI systems.
  • Contribute to the capture of knowledge related to the development and use of AI technology and support its dissemination.

Digital Innovation Engineering

  • Support the identification, assessment and implementation of innovative ideas for shared platform services and tools, leveraging leading-edge ICT innovation that facilitates exploitation of data and application of Artificial Intelligence techniques.
  • Contribute to the identification, adaptation and evaluation of AI techniques, AI frameworks, tools and optimization techniques.
  • Assist the development of information factory environments and their operations
  • Participate to the consolidation of needs and services related to information factory environments.
  • Contribute to technology development and work plans for ESA's technology programmes related to information factory.
  • Aid providing inputs to the definition of standards related to the development and deployment of AI systems.
  • Support the use of innovative data access and analytics environments leveraging HPC infrastructures.
  • Contribute to the capture of knowledge related to the development and use of information factories and support its dissemination.

Data Science Engineering

  • Support the requirement definition of data-driven solutions together with stakeholders, AI System Engineers and Digital Innovation engineers.
  • Contribute to the gathering of data from various sources, cleaning it, and transforming it into a usable format ensuring data quality, consistency, and availability.
  • Support exploratory data analysis to understand the data and identify patterns, trends, and anomalies gaining insights and forming hypotheses.
  • Participate to the build of predictive models selecting appropriate algorithms, training models on historical data, and validating their performance.
  • Support the implementation of machine learning algorithms automating decision making processes including tasks such as image processing, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance.
  • Contribute to the creation of visual representations of data, such as charts, graphs, and dashboards, to make the data more understandable for communicating insights to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to technology development and work plans for ESA's technology programmes related to data science.
  • Contribute to the capture of knowledge related to the development and use of information factories and support its dissemination.

What You Offer

  • Master Degree in the relevant field.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques, data science methodologies, etc.
  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence and Data Science approaches for engineering analysis, mission optimisation, decision support.
  • Candidates must be eligible for a security personal clearance from an EU Member State national security administration.

Where

You will be working within ESTEC, the European Space Agency’s offices in the Netherlands as a contractor for Telespazio Belgium. We don’t expect the employees to be on-site full time however you will still have to relocate to the Netherlands for this position.
