Cloud Engineer (UK Relocation)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and manage cloud-based infrastructure and services. This role will be responsible for building scalable, secure, and efficient cloud solutions for the company’s applications and services. The ideal candidate should have experience with cloud platforms, networking, automation, and DevOps principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Infrastructure Management:
- Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure across various platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or other cloud service providers.
- Oversee cloud resource provisioning, scaling, and monitoring.
- Cloud Security:
- Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), data encryption, and network security.
- Automation and Optimization:
- Utilize automation tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) to deploy and manage infrastructure as code.
- Continuously monitor cloud environments to identify performance bottlenecks and optimize for cost-efficiency and reliability.
- Collaboration and Integration:
- Work with development, operations, and security teams to ensure smooth deployment, integration, and maintenance of cloud-based solutions.
- Collaborate in the design and integration of cloud-based applications.
- Disaster Recovery & Backup:
- Implement and manage cloud-based disaster recovery, business continuity, and backup strategies to ensure high availability and minimal downtime.
- Troubleshooting & Support:
- Provide troubleshooting and support for cloud-based systems, ensuring that technical issues are resolved quickly to minimize service disruptions.
- Cloud Cost Management:
- Monitor and optimize cloud costs by leveraging cost-management tools and providing recommendations for budget control.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain clear documentation of cloud infrastructure, processes, and architectures.
- Provide regular reports on cloud performance, usage, and cost metrics.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer or in a similar role, managing and deploying cloud solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of networking protocols and services in the cloud (e.g., VPC, load balancing, firewalls, VPNs).
- Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Shell, PowerShell, Bash).
- Experience in cloud monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Stackdriver, Prometheus).
- Good understanding of cloud security practices, IAM, and compliance frameworks.
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward learning and adapting to new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with serverless architectures and microservices.
- Knowledge of databases (e.g., relational, NoSQL) in the cloud environment.
- Previous experience with hybrid cloud environments.
